Reflection

I chose Thomas Shahan as my artist because his style is something I have only ever attempted one other time and I wanted to see if I could do it better this time. One thing I took after Thomas was taking photos of spiders, he mostly takes photos of spiders as well, so I did the same and always kept an eye out for spiders which is why I also have multiple photos of spiders. One thing I did differently was not have all my photos be head on shots. Most of Thomases photos are head on shots of his subject, there always looking right at the camera or very slightly off, so to make it my own, I took some of my photos as a top down, or side profiles. My most prominent theme I’m trying to convey is colour, in Macro photography colour is very valuable because its the only type of photography where you have a chance to show off colours that people have never seen before in the bugs that are always around them. A project that really helped me with this one was the vintage photography project, it helped me explore photoshop more extensively which really gave me the ability to get exactly what I wanted out of the photos I took. Some principles that I used was lots of space behind and sometimes in front of my subjects to help draw attention to them. I also used some proportions to emphasis the scale of the subject. Overall, this project helped me grow my skills in photography and editing, and gave me a possible new favorite style to shoot.
